[NPL] GoFigure! Router Config from a Palm Pilot

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PALM COMPUTING-BASED ROUTER CONFIGURATOR BY CLAIRVOYANT SOFTWARE
SAVES TIME, MONEY AND SPACE FOR NETWORK MANAGERS

GoFigure! Quickly Installs and Configures CISCO Routers On First
American Title's Statewide WAN Anywhere, Anytime , Automates Tedious,
Time-Consuming Tasks

Sunnyvale, CA - March 1, 1999 - Clairvoyant Software's GoFigure!
router configuration software is saving First American Title
Insurance Company of Portland, Oregon time and money in maintaining
and expanding its 30-sight wide area network.

GoFigure! is the first GUI product allowing network system managers
and engineers to configure Cisco routers using Palm Pilot or PalmIII
hand-held computers. Introduced in November 1998, GoFigure! addresses
a router's set-up and get-running configuration parameters by
automating tedious and time-consuming tasks. It's a valuable,
portable tool for anyone configuring Cisco routers.

Providing real estate title insurance services throughout the state
of Oregon, First American Title Insurance employs a 30-site,
600-node, 500-client WAN to manage its data-intensive business and
remain competitive. It's WAN-connected branch offices provide e-mail
and Internet connectivity as well as remotes support for accounting
and production applications.

"You cant beat it for quick install and configuration of routers,"
said Dan Witte, network manager at First American. "Prior to using
GoFigure! I'd use my laptop to configure routers. This meant finding
a place to set up within reach of the console port and waiting for
Windows to boot and shut down. Most of our branch offices have
wall-mounted routers in phone closets. I still telenet to routers
from my desk for many tasks. But if I need to use the console port
for any reason, I never use my laptop anymore. The Palm only takes a
few seconds to get started rather than waiting a minute or two for
the laptop. I can't stand waiting minutes for a PC to boot for a task
that takes only seconds. GoFigure on my Palm Pilot is also far more
convenient to carry."

Witte uses Clairvoyant's Palm-based configuration tool when he adds a
branch to his company's WAN and has to configure a new router. He
also uses GoFigure! any time he can't connect to the router over the
network or doesn't have access to a PC that's already running.

In 1998 First American replaced all of its outdated routers with new
Cisco units statewide. "GoFigure! came along in time to use toward
the end of the project," said Witte. "I was able to use it for
deploying 6 or 7 of the last routers. I also used for site subsequent
configuration changes or interface resets when I'm unable to telenet
to a router. It would have been great to have GoFigure! from the
outset of the project."

GoFigure Functionality
GoFigure isn't designed to replace current tools used for Cisco
router configuration. Clairvoyant knows that understanding the router
command line interface is the ultimate test of system engineering
aptitude. There's still a need for the hard-core engineer to learn
and understand the complexities of configuring an IOS device.
GoFigure! Is a real-time, graphical representation of the most common
Cisco configuration parameters relating to initial set-up and
day-to-day use. The GoFigure! Display lets users download existing
router configuration or build new ones from existing templates.

GoFigure! minimizes initial Cisco router set-up configurations and
offers built-in activity log that records all configured routers. It
also allows creation of templates from common configurations. It
operates on PamlPilot and PalmIII and requires 128KB of free RAM on
the palm devices used. A Palm Pilot modem cable allows direct
connection to most Cisco routers. (Cisco 2XXX models require a Cisco
configuration serial cable). GoFigure! Is sold direct from
Clairvoyant Software and by industry partners. For more information,
