Fantom Drives Ships FireWire(tm) Hard Disk Drives

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA - December 15, 1999 - Fantom Drives rounded out its
FireWire(tm) product family today by announcing the immediate availability
of its FireWire(tm) Hard Disk Drive product line. Positioned as an
exceptional way to add fast and affordable storage to any iMacDV, G3, or G4
computer, Fantom Drives FireWire(tm) Hard Disk Drives are available in
15GB, 25GB, and 34GB configurations.

Focusing on the high-end needs of consumer and professional users, the
Fantom Drives FireWire(tm) Hard Disk Drive line is ideal for users who need
more performance than can be delivered by current USB offerings, but
without the tedium of the installation nightmares associated with "legacy"
SCSI-based devices. With 33 times greater bandwidth than USB, Fantom Drives
FireWire(tm) Hard Disk Drives are ideal for users working with multimedia,
digital audio and video, graphic design, or any other speed-demanding
application. Because FireWire(tm) lacks the troublesome termination and ID
selector settings that have made difficult the configuration of SCSI
products, Fantom Drives FireWire(tm) Hard Disk Drives can be set up in
minutes. Once installed, FireWire(tm) drives can also be "hot plugged" or
unplugged without powering down the computer - a feature particularly
suited to service bureaus and users requiring fast access to high-capacity
mobile storage.

Fantom Drives has built its reputation on offering high quality drive
assemblies in its SCSI and USB based products and its new line of
FireWire(tm) hard disk drives proudly continues the tradition. Built around
high quality 5,400RPM and 7,200RPM drive mechanisms from industry-leader
IBM, these drives pack their punch into an attractive and easy-to-use
package suitable for novice and professional users alike.

Pricing and Availability
------------------------
All three Fantom Drives FireWire(tm) Hard Disk Drive models are available
immediately from local Fantom Drives retailers worldwide, as well as online
mail-order companies.

United States Suggested Retail Pricing (USSRP):

15GB 5,400 RPM FireWire Hard Disk Drive $399
25GB 5,400 RPM FireWire Hard Disk Drive $519
34GB 7,200 RPM FireWire Hard Disk Drive $645

Both models ship with an IEEE-1394 cable and El Gato FireWire(tm)
Formatting Utility, and are covered by a 1-year warranty.

FireWire(tm) was invented by Apple Computer in the early 1990s and was
adopted by the IEEE as a standard (IEEE 1394) in 1995 as a cross-platform
high-speed serial technology that can move large amounts of data between
computers and peripheral devices. It features simplified cabling, hot
swapping, and transfer speeds of up to 400 megabits per second.
FireWire(tm) is one of the fastest peripheral standards ever developed,
which makes it great for use with multimedia peripherals such as video
camcorders and other high-speed devices like the latest hard disk drives,
CD-recorders, scanners, and printers.

Fantom Drives is a data storage solution company dedicated to extending the
reach of computing technology through innovation. Fantom Drives' current
product line includes Standalone CD Duplication Systems, CD-ROM, CD-R & RW,
DVD-ROM & RAM, Hard Disk, Magneto-Optical, RAID Array, Removable Storage,

in use around the globe, Fantom Drives is committed to solving the data
storage needs of the computer age by establishing a new standard in
customer service and support.
