EQUILIBRIUM ADDS MAC OS 8.5 COMPATIBILITY TO DEBABELIZER 3 FOR MACINTOSH

Sausalito, CA - December 9, 1998 -- Equilibrium today announced the
availability of a free Mac OS 8.5 updater for DeBabelizer 3 for Macintosh,
the professional software standard for automatically preparing digital
graphics and video for delivery in any medium on any platform. The updater
revises DeBabelizer's interface to comply with Mac OS 8.5 standards,
extends DeBabelizer's support for pre-press files and enables the use of
Photoshop 5 filters and plug-ins.

"Apple has set a new standard for speed and ease of use with OS 8.5." said
Tim Bigoness, Equilibrium's Director of Product Management. "We've updated
DeBabelizer to harness the power of Apple's new OS and enable our users to
prepare and optimize digital media even faster and more efficiently than
before."

Equilibrium DeBabelizer 3 for Macintosh users work in all areas of the
digital convergence: Web development, imaging and publishing, corporate
presentations, multimedia and digital video. DeBabelizer serves as the
center of digital workflow, enabling users to quickly and automatically
process, optimize, and convert graphics from one medium to the next. The
DeBabelizer Mac OS 8.5 updater seamlessly modifies the DeBabelizer 3
interface and brings the version number to Equilibrium DeBabelizer 3.0.2.

MAC OS 8.5 INTERFACE ENHANCEMENTS

Since version 3.0, a number of the dialogs have been modified to improve
ease-of-use and comply with new Mac OS 8.5 interface standards. Users may
notice that many DeBabelizer buttons have been enlarged to facilitate the
display of key command equivalents. Users can now also use keyboard
shortcuts in all DeBabelizer dialogs.

PRE-PRESS FILE SUPPORT

With this updater, DeBabelizer now supports both binary and ACSII image
data in EPSF/DCS files. Users can select the type of data DeBabelizer
writes in the new EPSF Save Options dialog. DeBabelizer 3 can read EPSF/DCS
files that use binary or ASCII data, with either PICT or TIFF previews.
When saving DCS files, DeBabelizer 3 now produces separate plate files for
Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Black, as well as a master .dcs file. The master
dcs file contains a preview of the image (if there is one) and reference
information for the C, M, Y, and K plates.

ENHANCED PHOTOSHOP 5 PLUG-IN SUPPORT

The Mac OS 8.5 updater also extends DeBabelizer's support for Adobe's
Photoshop plug-in architecture. Changes have been made to support a wider
variety of Photoshop 5 import, export, and filter plug-ins.
