OPEN DOOR NETWORKS ANNOUNCES AFP LOGGER

BRINGS MUCH-NEEDED LOGGING TO APPLESHARE FILE SERVERS

ASHLAND, OR. -- May 26, 1998 -- Open Door Networks Inc. today announced
availability of a beta version of a signficant new product for AppleShare
file servers. AFP Logger (TM) works with any AppleShare IP file server to
provide a detailed log of accesses to the server, plus a real-time display
of the server's operation. Logging both user and file access detail, AFP
Logger provides AppleShare administrators with much-needed information on
how their Apple Filing Protocol (AFP) server is being used, which files are
being accessed the most, and potential security and other problems with the
server.

"AppleShare IP has always been a great file server," said Alan Oppenheimer,
president of Open Door Networks. "It's just been missing the critical
ability to monitor and audit both local and Internet-based accesses. With
AFP Logger we're providing this key missing component."

AFP Logger provides a real-time, text format log of accesses to the AFP
server including:

- names and addresses of users
- login and file access errors
- bytes transferred by each user
- time connected for each user
- specific files opened and deleted
- password changes.

Accesses to the AFP server through both AppleTalk and Internet protocols
are logged, providing administrators with new capabilities such as :

- keeping track of who's connecting to the server and when
- noticing if any unauthorized accesses to the server are attempted
- maintaining an audit trail of server operations
- determining which files are accessed the most
- noticing if errors are occurring on accesses to the server.

AFP Logger works especially well when combined with Open Door's LogDoor
Site Monitor application. LogDoor, bundled with AppleShare IP 5.0, provides
real-time analysis of accesses to Macintosh Web servers and works
unmodified with the log file produced by AFP Logger. Open Door is also
enhancing LogDoor to provide additional analysis of features specific to
AFP logging, such as summaries of user-by-user access.

AFP Logger supports any version of AppleShare IP, and requires System 7.6.1
or later. Certain features of AFP Logger require Apple's newly-announced
AppleShare IP 6.0. AFP Logger is expected to ship by July. A beta version
is available immediately off the AFP Logger Web site at
http://www.opendoor.com/logger/ along with additional information on the
product. LogDoor details and an evaluation version are available from
http://www.opendoor.com/logdoor/ .

Pricing of AFP Logger has not yet been determined.
