Adobe Systems Acquires GoLive CyberStudio Professional Web Publishing Software

Leading professional Web authoring and design tool expands Adobe's
award-winning product line

San Jose, Calif., (January 4, 1999) (Nasdaq:ADBE)-Adobe Systems
Incorporated today announced that it has acquired the assets of
GoLive Systems, Inc., including GoLive CyberStudio, the professional
Web design and publishing software, and the GoLive Web Publishing
System. The acquisition of GoLive CyberStudio underscores Adobe's
strategy to lead Web publishing with a complete suite of professional
design and publishing tools. With more than 25 best product awards
and 45 top reviews in leading industry publications, the product has
been widely accepted and critically acclaimed by professional Web
publishers worldwide. CyberStudio has been used to produce Web sites
for Aware Records, Music Boulevard, Cartoon Network, Warner Bros.
Records and The Associated Press, among others.

"Combining GoLive CyberStudio with Adobe Photoshop, Adobe ImageReady,
Adobe ImageStyler, Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Acrobat gives Adobe
the only full suite for professional Web design and publishing," said
John Warnock, co-founder and CEO, Adobe Systems. "CyberStudio, PGML
and our breakthrough page layout technologies are key components of
our strategy to expand the opportunities for our customers in
professional Web and cross-media publishing."

"GoLive is very excited about joining the Adobe team. It's a natural
fit for the companies' technologies, and a win-win situation for the
acquisition's chief beneficiaries-our customers," said Andreas
Poliza, GoLive's founder and CEO. "The combination of Photoshop,
Illustrator and CyberStudio is already the industry's leading web
solution. Now, as part of Adobe, our engineers can deliver an
unbeatable integrated suite of Web publishing tools."

Industrial-Strength Professional Web Publishing GoLive CyberStudio 3
includes everything Web authors need to design and produce fully
dynamic Web sites, including the most demanding e-commerce sites,
without complex multimedia programming. GoLive CyberStudio gives
users complete control over all HTML in a visual environment while
automatically generating industry-compliant HTML code. The result is
clean HTML that even the most discerning Web programmers appreciate.
The advanced site management tools in CyberStudio make Web site
creation and maintenance easier and more visual than ever before.

Integration with Adobe's Design and Publishing Tools CyberStudio
perfectly complements the industry's most comprehensive line of
professional Web graphics tools. Professional Web designers
frequently cite Photoshop and Illustrator as the top tools for
creating Web graphics and site composites. Additionally, new
dedicated Web graphics tools, ImageReady and ImageStyler, empower
designers to optimize and easily create Web effects.

"I use Adobe Photoshop all day, every day for almost all of my
designs. Photoshop is the bedrock of creating images, and GoLive
CyberStudio makes those images come alive," said David Kekone,
president and CEO of CANTO 5 Design, in Hollywood, California.
"There's no solution that works as well for Web design and
publishing. I do it without even thinking." CANTO 5 Design's clients
include, among others, Maverick Records, Warner Bros. Records and MGM.

Adobe's submission of the Precision Graphics Markup Language (PGML)
to the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) and participation on several
W3C authoring committees-including ICE, XSL
and CSS-has enabled Adobe to take a leading role in setting standards
critical to the future of Web publishing. Looking ahead, the
combination of CyberStudio, Acrobat and the company's breakthrough
page layout technologies lays the groundwork for a cross-media
publishing system that will deliver documents for print and the Web
with ease.
