Metrowerks Ships CodeWarrior Development Tools
for Classic Mac OS and Mac OS X

AUSTIN, Texas-September 10, 2001- Today, Metrowerks began shipping
CodeWarrior for Mac OS, Version 7.0, development tools. With these tools,
developers can build a single application that runs on both Classic Mac OS
and Mac OS X architectures. The latest version of CodeWarrior tools
provides the power to develop for multiple hosts and multiple targets:
Classic Mac OS, Carbon, Native Mac OS X, and Java. Version 7.0 also
includes the Metrowerks PowerPlant framework, the industry's most popular
object-oriented C++ framework, which allows developers to create
applications faster and easier.

CodeWarrior for Mac OS, Version 7.0, is an easy-to-use tool suite that
saves development time by allowing developers to create new applications
using existing code. Additionally, Version 7.0 includes a sophisticated
Mach-O project converter that automatically converts Carbon PEF projects to
Mach-O, enabling projects to run natively on the Mac OS X platform. Among
other features are a new carbonized version of the integrated development
environment (IDE), Mac OS X-hosted command-line tools, the latest Altivec
support (Velocity Engine), and cross-development tools to target Windows.

Metrowerks customer Alias|Wavefront licensed a beta version of CodeWarrior
for Mac OS, Version 7.0, tools to create its Maya software, a tool used to
create 3-D animation and effects. Andrew Pearce, director of Maya
Technologies for Alias|Wavefront, described how his team used CodeWarrior
to develop one of the largest and most feature-rich applications to target
the Mac OS X platform. "Throughout the development process we relied on
the CodeWarrior for Mac high-speed compiler and native debugger tools to
make the project a success," noted Mr. Pearce. "CodeWarrior's combination
of reliability and performance along with Metrowerks' ongoing development
support ensured a robust, responsive, and reliable end-result."
Alias|Wavefront develops 3D animation and visual effects software used in
the film, video, broadcast, game development, interactive, and
location-based entertainment markets.

"Metrowerks is committed to providing the Macintosh development community
with the most stable and comprehensive integrated development environment
to build leading-edge Macintosh applications," said Andy Mastronardi,
director of standard platform and academic marketing, Metrowerks.

Metrowerks is also shipping CodeWarrior for Windows, Version 7.0,
development tools and a combined package of CodeWarrior for Mac OS and
Windows, Version 7.0, tools. All of the Version 7.0 products allow
developers to write C/C++ and Java applications that target Classic Mac OS,
Mac OS X or Windows operating systems using a single integrated development
environment.
