Maxum Development Upgrades NetForms to Version 2.0,
Adding Greater Flexibility to HTML Forms Processing

Mactivity, San Jose, CA., July 14, 1996 -- Maxum Development, a leading
developer of commercial World Wide Web server tools, today announced it is
shipping an upgraded version of its popular Web server add-on application,
NetForms.

NetForms is the Web server "back-end" that allows Webmasters to easily
process information entered by visitors to create completely interactive
Web sites. NetForms can take user submitted information and create a new
HTML page, send an e-mail message, insert text into an existing page, and
store the data for later processing by virtually any application (including
databases, spreadsheets, text-processors, etc.). NetForms provides all
these capabilities while keeping the Webmaster in complete control of their
site.

NetForms 2.0 represents a significant improvement in both feature set and
processing power. A complete re-write of the parsing engine gives 2.0
processing speed several times faster than previous versions. NetForms is
now completely Open Transport native, but is also fully compatible with
MacTCP. Significant enhancements in NetForms' primary functionality are
provided by the new SENDMAIL and INSERTFILE directives. NetForms' SENDMAIL
feature allows a form submitted by a user to be converted to an SMTP
message and sent to a mail server. The mailer is fully threaded and uses
OT - native calls to send mail, which substantially improves performance.
INSERTFILE allows the insertion of text into an existing HTML page or file
instead of creating an entirely new page.

"NetForms has grown from an Internet messaging tool into a complete package
that can handle a variety of collaborative tasks," said Maxum's President
John O'Fallon. "We've had tremendous responses to the new capabilities, and
the extended features of NetForms core capabilities make the possibilities
for creating content on the fly almost limitless."

NetForms additional enhancements include:

* Field verification of user input
* Full control of file names
* Greater flexibility and easier maintenance of navigational links and menus
* Chaining to perform multiple NetForms operation to a single user entry
* User previews before permanent document submission
* Simplification of threaded discussion forums
* More powerful parsing of user-entered data
* Greater flexibility of data file storage
* Multiple conditional statements

NetForms new enhancements have been applauded by the industry:

"With its ability to send e-mail and create HTML pages both from the same
form, NetForms 2.0 is nearly indispensable in the development of
interactive Web sites", says Jon Wiederspan, Co-author, Managing and
Planning Web Sites on the Macintosh. "It is the one CGI that all of our
customers use and I highly recommend it."

Current license holders can upgrade by downloading the NetForms 2.0
demonstration version from Maxum's Web site and dropping their key on the
demo application. New customers can order the upgraded NetForms by either
visiting http://www.maxum.com or by calling Maxum Development at (708)
830-1113.
