[MD1] Typhoon CGI

[MD1] Typhoon CGI

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
October 30, 1997

San Diego, CA - Pacific Coast Software, creators of the popular eCommerce
products WebCatalog and WebMerchant, have released a new product based upon
the WebDNA language introduced in WebCatalog 2.0. Typhoon, so named because
of its ability to handle many important Web site requirements with
tremendous speed and energy, provides an entry-level introduction to
WebDNA. The Web server CGI is available for both Macintosh and Windows
platforms and may be downloaded free of charge from Pacific Coast
Software's Web site at http://www.pacific-coast.com/.

Typhoon's subset of the WebDNA language includes the ability to create
dynamic Web pages that place the current date, time, or other defined
variables on a page, hide or show portions of a page, and perform complex
calculations. In addition, Typhoon can easily handle form submissions,
banner ads with click-through statistics, writing data to, or reading data
from, an external file. Page-level password protection is processed by
Typhoon's lightning-quick user database that can easily handle hundreds of
thousands of users and groups. Typhoon can even be used to compose and send
email directly from your Web site.

Most importantly, Typhoon includes a set of bundled solutions that utilize
its innovative database technology. A classified ad solution and contact
database solution, which include the ability to email one or multiple
people, is included in the Typhoon package. The solutions are merely HTML
templates that can be easily modified to look and work any way you'd like.
Macintosh users have two additional solutions aimed at popular third-party
products. A ListSTAR mailing list manager and Rumpus FTP user manager are
two additional solutions that add remote Web-based administration to those
popular products.

A fully functioning evaluation copy of Typhoon is available from Pacific
Coast Software's Web site. After evaluating the product, which is not
time-limited, registration is only $99.00. In addition to creating other
popular applications such as SiteEdit Pro, Pacific Coast Software provides
a complete range of eCommerce hosting and consulting services. For more
