Maxum Development Announces NetCloak And NetForms Updates

February 24, 1997 -- Maxum Development Corporation, a leading developer of
Macintosh Web server tools, announces the release of NetCloak 2.5.2 and
NetForms 2.5.2, updates that improve server reliability and integration and
improve usability while addressing several minor problems with previous
versions.

"The NetCloak and NetForms 2.5.2 updates are important upgrades for our
customers," said John O'Fallon, President of Maxum. "On the outside, not
much has changed from the 2.5 versions we recently released. However, we've
put in a lot of work under the hood to make building dynamic, interactive
Web sites easier, faster, and more reliable."

Items Updated In NetCloak and NetForms 2.5.2

* Improved Server Compatibility - With the increasing popularity of servers
like WebTen and Apple's Personal Web Sharing and AppleShare IP, support for
a broad range of servers has become critical. NetCloak and NetForms 2.5.2
improve compatibility with "Virtual Domain" servers and SSL servers. At the
same time, backward compatability has also been improved with older servers
that don't support all of the latest features found in more modern server
packages.

* Syntax Cleanups - Both NetCloak and NetForms are more forgiving of
improper command syntax.

* Better HTTP header control - NetCloak now allows the WebMaster control
over the "pragma: no-cache" HTTP header field, providing better control of
browser caching and intermediate HTTP proxies.

* Streamlined Examples - Both NetCloak and NetForms include updated,
simplified example systems. The included demonstration systems not only
provide examples and a reference for WebMasters, but also serve as
templates from which to work.

* Improved Caching - NetCloak's dynamic cache now handles frequently
accessed macro files, improving performance.

Upgrades to the new 2.5.2 versions are free to all NetCloak and NetForms
2.5 customers. Both updates can be downloaded from Maxum's Web site, with
specific upgrade information available at "http://www.maxum.com/Upgrades/".
