NeoLogic's Object Database Management System Adopted by Connectix to Aid in
Accelerating Web Browsing - NeoAccess-enabled Surf Express(tm) Loads Pages
Up to 36 Times Faster Than Stand Alone Browsers

Berkeley, CA - December 15, 1997 - Reinforcing its position as the leading
provider of object databases for the desktop, NeoLogic today announced that
NeoAccess was chosen by Connectix Corporation as the database foundation
for the recently released Surf Express(tm). Surf Express is a performance
optimizing application which accelerates the web browsing experience by
loading pages up to 36 times faster than stand alone web browsers.

"NeoAccess gave us the back-end infrastructure we needed to meet our
performance objectives," said Connectix lead engineer Jim Gochee. "Its fast
access speeds, highly efficient caching mechanism and cross-platform
support for multithreaded applications all contributed to the speed of Surf
Express. Beyond our appreciation for the product itself, we're extremely
happy with NeoLogic's development team and the level of support Connectix
has received from this partnership."

With a fundamental focus on speed, Surf Express optimizes the communication
between browser and web server. The application is designed to make optimal
use of available memory by actively loading and storing pages and
automatically updating frequently visited pages.

NeoAccess was incorporated into Surf Express as the underlying database for
storing and accessing web pages. Connectix engineers used NeoAccess to
build an intelligent caching system which operates transparently behind the
scenes, often requesting pages across the network before they are needed by
the end user. NeoAccess contributes to the application's boost in
responsiveness by making optimal use of memory and hard drive space for web
media. As the cache of media downloaded from the network builds and memory
becomes tight, NeoAccess manages resources by ensuring that web pages,
graphics and other previously downloaded media are committed to disk,
thereby freeing up memory for the system. The media cached in the database
can then be retrieved with local access times. By optimizing memory and
disk space usage in this way, NeoAccess-based applications such as Surf
Express are able to deliver a more responsive user experience than would
otherwise be possible.

"Bandwidth limitations and the data-intensive, media-rich nature of
sophisticated web sites have made performance one of the most pressing
issues of the web today," said NeoLogic president Bob Krause. "With Surf
Express, Connectix is addressing the performance issue with a vengeance,
expanding its industry leadership in performance optimizing software. Given
NeoLogic's own dedication to efficient application design, we are thrilled
that our technology has been used in the construction of Surf Express."

"Connectix Corporation is dedicated to creating products that improve
productivity and enable people to communicate faster and more efficiently,"
said Connectix president and CEO Roy McDonald. "We found NeoLogic to have
the same objectives with their innovative object database technology."
