Metrowerks Splits CodeWarrior Professional;
Changes Technical Support Policy

Austin, Texas-May 3, 1999-Metrowerks Inc., (Nasdaq: MTWK, TSE: MWK) a
leading provider of software development tools for desktop and
embedded systems, today announced that its popular CodeWarrior
product for the Macintosh operating system and the Windows operating
system will now be released as two, platform-specific products. The
separation of the product becomes effective in June of 1999 with
Release 5 of CodeWarrior for Mac OS, Professional Edition and Release
5 of CodeWarrior for Windows, Professional Edition. Thereafter,
Metrowerks will issue a release of each product annually, with
incremental updates available throughout the year. These "Factory
Updates" will be downloadable from the company's website. Detailed
information regarding delivery changes and technical support is
available on the Metrowerks website at
http://www.metrowerks.com/newsupport.

Host Platforms Grow in Variety and Complexity The decision to provide
CodeWarrior users with separate, platform-specific products was made
in anticipation of significant extensions to both the Macintosh and
Windows operating systems. For example, with Apple's introduction of
Mac OS X, CodeWarrior for Mac OS will support two Macintosh operating
systems. In addition, Microsoft is expected to release Windows2000 in
several forms later this year. By providing two distinct products
that can be enhanced and upgraded according to their own host
platform's delivery schedule, Metrowerks will be able to provide high
quality products that keep pace with advancements made by the vendors
for each operating system.
New Products To Support Java RAD Tools

New features to be shipped with Release 5 of CodeWarrior for Mac OS
and Release 5 of CodeWarrior for Windows have significantly increased
the size of each, as compared with the current product. Principle
among the upgrades for both platforms is support for rapid
application development (RAD) in Java, with GUI builders and wizards.
Both products are expected to ship in June.

New Support Policy

Beginning May 1, 1999 Metrowerks will replace the program of one-year
technical support included in the purchase of the products with free
New User Support plus ongoing support that is tiered and fee-based.
New User Support for desktop products provides 30 days of email and
telephone support at no charge; New User Support for embedded systems
products provides 90 days of email and telephone support at no charge.
