FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Dearborn, MI -- April 5, 1999 -- MacHack: The Annual Conference For
Leading Edge Developers is pleased to announce the keynote speaker
for the 1999 conference. This year's keynote will join the ranks of
others that have opened the developer proceedings such as Andy
Hertzfeld, Chris Espinosa, and Steve Wozniak. All eyes will be on
Dearborn at Midnight between June 23 and 24 as Andy Ihnatko takes the
podium to herald the official start of the conference.

Self described as "America's 42nd most-beloved industry personality,"
Mr. Ihnatko's credits include a lengthy stint at MacUser Magazine.
and shorter tenures at MacWorld, MacWEEK, and Yahoo! Internet Life.
He has also penned three books and The Original Macquarium, a
detailed guide to converting a compact macintosh into a working
piscine showplace. Currently, Mr. Ihnatko is a regularly featured
columnist at the online MacCentral newsite
(http://www.maccentral.com/), writes a technical column for NewMedia
Magazine (http://www.newmedia.com/) and can occasionally be found in
the pages of PLAYBOY (http://www.playboy.com/).

Mr. Ihnatko is not the first columnist to take the stage at MacHack.
In 1987, Doug Clapp, then columnist for MacUser Magazine, was the
first MacHack keynote speaker. Mr. Clapp spoke about the potential of
the Macintosh to serve more general purpose household robotics
functions.

While Mr. Ihnatko is keeping the exact content of his keynote to
himself, attendees can expect the kind of lively wit that populates
his weekly writings at MacCentral.

To register for the conference, simply go to the conference web site
(http://www.machack.com) and register either via the secure online
form or via the snail mail form. Those who register by April 15 are
entered to win a Palm III Connected Organizer, full details are at
the conference website. Also, attendees that register before the
April 15 deadline will get $50 off the regular registration rate.

MacHack, in its fourteenth year, remains centered around cutting edge
software development. Each year the conference brings together
well-known names in the software business, as well as many students
and upstarts whose names we'll know soon enough, and fosters
interaction between all of the attendees. MacHack's uniqueness
derives from the informal feel and the LIVE coding that occurs
around-the-clock during the conference.

MacHack 1999 will take place June 23-26 in Dearborn, Michigan.
