Macintosh Software Engineering Tools Updated For System 8

MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa, November 10, 1997 --- Excel Software, makers of the
popular MacA and WinA software engineering tools, today announced an update
to its full line of Macintosh products to support Apple's new Macintosh
System 8. The updated products include MacAnalyst, MacA, MacTranslator and
QuickCRC for Macintosh.

MacAnalyst automates system analysis and top level software design using
industry standard diagramming methods, integrated text specifications and
requirements traceability. MacA has the capabilities of MacAnalyst plus
additional detailed design, code generation and code browsing features.
MacTranslator generates design diagrams from existing source code including
C/C++, Pascal/Object Pascal, Basic and Fortran. QuickCRC is a software
design tool for discovering objects and related information for an
object-oriented development project using CRC cards that identify classes,
responsibilities and collaborations.

Previous versions of these products that shipped prior to the release of
System 8 exhibit a problem with the toolbar at the top of the screen when
running on a Macintosh with the new operating system. The new products
correct this problem and add other minor enhancements. The new version of
MacAnalyst 6.0.3, MacA 6.0.3, MacTranslator 1.0.2 and QuickCRC 1.0.1 are
available at no charge to registered customers with version 6.0, 6.0, 1.0
and 1.0, respectively. Registered customers can email their name, company,
address, product name and ID number to Excel Software at
info@excelsoftware.com to qualify for a free update. Customers with an
older version of any product can receive a price quotation by phone or
email to upgrade to the new version which includes a new set of printed
user and tutorial manuals.

Technical information about each product can be found on the company's web
site or in free product brochures available on request. A single user
license for MacAnalyst is $995, MacA is $1995, MacTranslator is $495 and
QuickCRC is $395. Site licensing of each product is available. These
products are compatible with Macintosh System 7.x or 8.x running on 68K or
Power PC computers. Each product also runs on Solaris and HP-UX computers
using Apple's Macintosh Application Environment (MAE) software. Excel
Software offers similar, document compatible products for Windows 95/NT
