[MD1] Mac F2C v1.4.2

[MD1] Mac F2C v1.4.2

Hi Mac F2C Users,

Four brief news items:

1. The current release of Mac F2C is v1.4.2 (Nov 98), and it is
compatible with CodeWarrior Pro releases 2, 3, and 4 (the installer
automatically selects appropriate versions of project files and
libraries). The primary Mac F2C web site is at:

http://www.alumni.caltech.edu/~igormt/Mac_F2C.html

With a mirror for European users at:

http://www.mech.mb.uni-dortmund.de/mech/Dirk/f2c/Mac_F2C.html

2. If you installed the recently released Metrowerks updates to
CodeWarrior Pro 4, you may need to rebuild the Mac F2C support
library "libf2c". To do this, use the "libf2c.prj" file located in
the "Mac F2C Libraries" folder. Select the target(s) of interest and
do a "Make". Move the resulting libraries to the "Mac F2C Support"
folder located in CodeWarrior's "MacOS Support" folder.

3. Dirk Froehling has released MacMPI for CodeWarrior. MacMPI for
CodeWarrior is a port of MacMPI, a Mac OS port of MPI by Viktor K.
Decyk, Dean E. Dauger and Pieter R. Kokelaar of UCLA. MPI (Message
Passing Interface) is a parallel programming protocol used on many
high-performance parallel computer systems. Dirk's port works
smoothly with CodeWarrior and Mac F2C, so you can write and use
standard MPI code in Fortran or C, compile and link it with
CodeWarrior, and execute it on a Macintosh PowerPC cluster. Think of
it as a poor man's super-computer.
You can get Dirk's MacMPI for CodeWarrior at:

http://www.mech.mb.uni-dortmund.de/mech/Dirk/MacMPI.html

For information on MPI and the original port to the MacOS by Viktor
Decyk check out:

4. A reminder that full BLAS + LAPACK libraries for use with
CodeWarrior on MacOS are available at the Mac F2C web site. You can
call these routines from either Fortran or C.

Thanks for your support and encouragement,

Igor Mikolic-Torreira
