The Mac Channel and MacTech Announce a Partnership
to Deliver Macintosh Development News in Real-Time

AUSTIN, TX and WESTLAKE VILLAGE, CA-- October 16, 1997 -- Xplain
Corporation, publisher of MacTech(r) Magazine, and The Mac Channel, the
internet broadcast network, announced today it has entered into an
agreement to provide development news and information to net-connected
Macintosh users around the world.

The Mac Channel was created so Macintosh users worldwide can receive
Macintosh news and information in real time. MacTech Magazine, the premier
news and information vehicle for Mac programmers and developers, will bring
over a wealth of experience in the Macintosh development industry to The
Mac Channel.

The combining of these two forces within the Macintosh community will give
Macintosh users the opportunity to have access to the most current
comprehensive Macintosh development news in the industry via Mac Channel's
push technology. By using a feature called dynamic content availability,
introduced in the beta 5 release of The Mac Channel client program, users
will have access to the Macintosh Development News.

"In an industry that is in a continuous state of evolution and change,
having access to the most current news and information in as many different
ways as possible is a definite asset," Neil Ticktin, Publisher of MacTech
Magazine. "MacTech is proud to be able to deliver its development news via
this dynamic technology."

"We are very excited with the opportunity to have MacTech as one of our
content partners", said Edison Thomaz Jr., the Project Manager of The Mac
Channel and a long-time reader of the MacTech magazine. "MacTech brings
over a decade of Macintosh programming coverage to our news network. We are
very glad to be able to offer the content of such a high quality and
valuable publisher to our users and the Macintosh community in general."

To become a subscriber to The Mac Channel all you need to do is download
the software. The beta 5 version of The Mac Channel software is available
for immediate download on The Mac Channel web site
(http://www.macchannel.com).
