KARLSRUHE, Germany, SAN FRANCISCO, USA -- January 7, 1997:

theta group released today LiveAccess(TM) 1.0, an OpenDoc(TM)-based
database frontending toolkit and framework for FileMaker Pro, 4th
Dimension, Oracle7, dtF and ODBC-compliant database systems.

LiveAccess provides a suite of highly integrated, interacting Live
Objects(TM) to incorporate data from existing databases in OpenDoc
containers like WAV, RagTime 4, NISUS Writer and other OpenDoc
containers. With its easy-to-use query-builders and user-interface Live
Objects, LiveAccess fully shields users from the implementation details
of the supported database systems. By breaking down the usually complex
topic of accessing database systems to a straightforward document-based
approach, LiveAccess allows users to deal with the familiar document
concept to accomplish the task at hand. Using LiveAccess, users can
create dynamic, interactive documents containing data from relational
databases in a simple, yet flexible and straightforward fashion by using
standard OpenDoc techniques like linking and drag & drop.

"LiveAccess 1.0 provides a straightforward and easy-to-use
database-access infrastructure for both end-users and developers"
commented Hans Martin Kern, VP, Product Engineering of theta group "With
LiveAccess, end-users are able to create interactive, internet- and
database-integrated documents with unprecedented ease-of-use, while
developers can leverage on our advanced framework to complement and
enhance the functionality of LiveAccess."

All Live Objects contained in the LiveAccess suite are communicating via
standard OpenDoc(TM) means and can be replaced by third-party parts at
any time. By linking their contents to third-party parts users can
display QuickDraw-3D models, PICTs, QuickTime Movies directly derived
from the host database or visualize data with advanced charting tools
like C-Graph from Corda Technologies (http://www.corda.com) or Adrenaline
Charts (http://www.adrenaline.ca). Hutchings Software has announced to
support LiveAccess within their Rapid-I product line
(http://www.hutchings-software.com). All Live Objects contained in the
LiveAccess suite are also fully integrated with WAV from Digital Harbor
(http://www.dharbor.com).

LiveAccess will be available from internet component software services
and theta group's web-site. Users, developers and press interested in
LiveAccess are welcome at
(http://www.thetagroup.ilk.de/liveaccess/liveaccessintro.htm) for more
in-depth information about LiveAccess.
