[MD1] IntraTier Releases Application Server for Visual Basic

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

IntraTier Releases Application Server for Visual Basic

Markham, Ontario (September 24, 1999) -- IntraTier Corporation
(http://www.intratier.com) announces the release of the IntraTier
Application Server for Visual Basic. The IntraTier Application Server for
Visual Basic provides an easy way to develop three-tier browser based web
applications in Visual Basic. Visual Basic tools like the form designer,
compiler and debugger are supported, and often only a few changes are
required in existing user applications. No knowledge of HTML or Java is
needed.

EASY TO USE ALTERNATIVE TO ACTIVE SERVER PAGES AND WEBCLASSES

Many Visual Basic developers would like to create web enabled versions of
their applications, but existing Microsoft tools like Active Server Pages
and Webclasses have required complete overhauls of their code to do so.
Because IntraTier continues to use the existing Visual Basic application
development environment, migration is significantly easier and less costly.

"IntraTier provided us with a low cost, low overhead option for our desire
to migrate our existing VB application to the web. Instead of climbing the
ASP learning curve, and requiring our users to re-learn our application, we
were able make our existing application fully web enabled in a matter of
minutes with a few code modifications and a re-compile." said Michael
Stevens, President of SMS Consultants, Inc. a Raleigh, North Carolina-based
firm specializing in the development of Scientific and Medical Systems.

TRUE THIN CLIENT ARCHITECTURE

Visual Basic applications are automatically partitioned into three-tier
applications by IntraTier's development tools. Since the resulting
application is server based, IntraTier can provide a true thin client
solution. This thin client architecture ensures that databases, mail
systems, and transactions servers can all be accessed securely and easily.

"Until now, it has been too difficult to create browser based web
applications in Visual Basic. IntraTier's unique thin client architecture
makes web development accessible to a much larger group of VB developers."
said Sandy Atkinson, president, IntraTier Corporation.

IntraTier Application Server for Visual Basic features include:

* Source Code Compatibility -- IntraTier allows VB developers to write one
Visual Basic application that can be used in both existing two-tier and
newer three-tier web environments.

* Uses Existing VB Tools -- Developers can continue to use the Visual Basic
Forms Designer, Compiler, Debugger and third party tools.

* Eliminates Software Installation Woes -- IntraTier uses a small Java
client, which can be downloaded to the browser each time it is used. No
software needs to be installed on client desktops.

* High Quality User Interface -- IntraTier provides browser users with the
same high quality user interface they are used to with current Visual Basic
applications.

* No HTML or Java skills required -- Eliminates the need for Visual Basic
developers to learn HTML, Java or new development paradigms in order to
develop browser based web applications.

* Supports Macintosh and Unix Clients -- Provides a solution for deploying
Visual Basic applications to Macintosh and Unix users.
