Fort Software Announces Support for Mac OS 8.1

OAKLAND, Calif., March 11, 1998 -- Fort Software, Inc. (NASDAQ: FRTE)
today announced that the latest version of the Fort Application
Environment(TM) provides full development and deployment support for
Apple's latest operating system, Mac OS 8.1.

With the support of Mac OS 8.1, Macintosh developers using Fort(R) can
create mission-critical distributed applications that can scale to
thousands of concurrent users. Fort, the industry's leading suite of
object-oriented tools for building enterprise networked applications,
supports JavaBeans, IIOP, CORBA and a number of open technologies to let
customers take advantage of all their hardware and software assets.

"Mac OS 8.1 improves on Apple's most successful software release to date -
Mac OS 8 - which has sold more than three million copies," said Clent
Richardson, senior director of worldwide developer relations at Apple
Computer. "Support from companies such as Fort gives Macintosh developers
the advanced tools they need to create and deliver applications which take
advantage of Mac OS 8.1's new features and improved performance and
stability."

"We are pleased to extend Fort's long standing support for the Macintosh
platform to Mac OS 8.1," said Ed Horst, vice president of product marketing
for Fort Software. "Fort is committed to supporting new technologies and
platforms that help our customers build a new breed of applications that
can be Internet, multi-media or workflow enabled."

Mac OS 8.1 was released in January 1998 and provides more efficient disk
storage with HFS+, an improved disk file system, faster application
launching from newly optimized virtual memory, improved disk caching, and
further refinements to Apple's famed ease of use.
