FILEMAKER PRO SERVER 3.0 FOR WINDOWS NT SHIPS

Windows NT database speeds FileMaker performance up to sixty percent

SANTA CLARA, Calif., - Feb. 19, 1997 - Claris Corporation announced
the immediate availability of FileMaker Pro Server 3.0 for Windows NT,
database software based on the company's popular FileMaker Pro 3.0 for
Mac OS, Windows 95, Windows 3.1 and Windows NT that accelerates the
performance of FileMaker Pro database files accessed by network users.

Certified for Microsoft BackOffice compatibility, FileMaker Pro
Server 3.0 for Windows NT is compliant with Microsoft's Windows NT
Server requirements and supports FileMaker Pro 3.0 for Windows and
Mac OS network users within small-to-medium size businesses and
corporate workgroups within large organizations. On average, FileMaker
Pro 3.0 Server for Windows NT performs 60% faster than peer-to-peer
networking access of FileMaker Pro databases, according to Claris
Corporation's benchmark testing.

Continues Commitment of Claris to Windows Enterprise Computing
"FileMaker Pro 3.0 is the only end user database that runs on Mac OS,
Windows NT, Windows 95, as well as Windows 3.1, which is still popular
within so many corporations," said Dominique Goupil, president, Claris
Corporation. "FileMaker Pro Server 3.0 for Windows NT acts as the
continuation of our support for providing easy, fast access to FileMaker
Pro databases via Windows OS technology."

As a Window NT service, FileMaker Pro Server 3.0 for Windows NT hosts up
to 100 database files and 100 network users sharing files simultaneously
over IPX/SPX and TCP/IP networks.

For Windows NT administrators, this release of FileMaker Pro Server
delivers network security, remote server access and administration
capabilities, as well as tools to monitor server and network activity,
send messages to connected users, and even open and close files
automatically. In addition, network administrators can monitor network
statistics, such as current and peak usage, disk and network bytes per
second and more from within the administrative window.

Faster Data Access for Windows and Mac OS Users
Workgroups can experience dramatically faster performance compared to
FileMaker Pro peer-to-peer networking when using FileMaker Pro Server 3.0
to host their FileMaker Pro 3.0 databases.

FileMaker Pro Server 3.0 performance improvements fully leverage the both
IPX/SPX and TCP/IP technologies, allowing multiple database operations to
take place simultaneously using asynchronous I/O and multi-threading.

"It's twice as fast (as peer-to-peer FileMaker Pro 3.0 database
sharing/hosting), with lots of umph to spare," said beta evaluator, Andy
Knasinski, of J.D. Publishing. "It felt like our FileMaker Pro databases
were being run locally! The populating of popups menus seemed
instantaneous!" he added.
