Metrowerks Ships CodeWarrior Discover Programming Edition 4 for Macintosh

Austin, Texas-October 20, 1998-Metrowerks, Inc. (NASDAQ: MTWKF, TSE/ME:
MWK) today announced the company has begun shipping CodeWarrior Discover
Programming Edition 4 for Macintosh, a personal edition of the powerful
CodeWarrior software development tools for C, C++, Java and Pascal,
designed for beginners who want to learn how to program and experienced
developers interested in learning a new language.

CodeWarrior Discover Programming Edition 4 for Macintosh includes the same
version of the award-winning CodeWarrior Integrated Development Environment
(IDE) that is featured in CodeWarrior Professional at the low price of
US$79. It is comprised of a project manager, code editor, code browser,
compilers and linkers and a seamlessly integrated debugger that allows the
user to edit source code while debugging.

CodeWarrior Discover Programming Edition 4 for Macintosh includes
Metrowerks' PowerPlant application framework, the most popular programming
framework for Mac OS, and comprehensive online documentation with
step-by-step tutorials that allow the user to easily learn the PowerPlant
framework. Discover's Constructors for PowerPlant and Java provide
programmers with interactive, graphical support for resource editing of Mac
OS applications, which makes Discover a remarkably easy-to-use learning
tool. Other notable features are the local website on the CD that allows
the user to quickly and easily locate files and documentation, the seven
online books that help the user learn programming at his or her own pace
and the comprehensive online help which makes learning to program with
Discover faster and easier.

"The Discover Programming Edition of CodeWarrior contains the tools and
tutorials to enable even an absolute novice to learn the fundamentals of
programming, and its innovative design makes learning to program fun, fast
and easy," said Jean Belanger, chairman and chief executive officer,
Metrowerks. "Discover Programming's flexibility, power and low price makes
it a great investment for anyone interested in software development."

CodeWarrior Discover Programming Edition 4 for Macintosh is licensed for
personal use only. It may be used to develop freeware or shareware software
but not for development of commercial software.
