RELIABLE SOFTWARE TECHNOLOGIES RELEASES JAVA TESTING TOOL
New tool aids developers in testing Java programs

STERLING, Va--Reliable Software Technologies Corporation (RST)
has released DeepCover for Java (Ver. 1.3), the world's first
source-code based coverage tool, designed to help developers thoroughly
test their Java-based programs.

Code coverage is an important software engineering tool. "We test
because we need information about the quality of the code," said Brian
Marick, author of "The Craft of Software Testing". "But, like
programmers, testers make mistakes, so we need information about
the quality of the tests. Used thoughtfully, code coverage is an
essential tool for evaluating testing. The more detailed the type of
coverage used, the more information you get out of it."
"When your code is critical, as is often the case with Java systems
that are meant to perform securely, code coverage helps you assure
that your testing is thorough," said Dr. Gary McGraw author of
Java Security: Hostile Applets, Holes, and Antidotes. "It is
essential to test for security and not blindly trust the language
to make your code secure."
Java is a programming language allowing software programs
to run interactively across internetworked application
environments. Created by Sun Microsystems, Inc. and introduced
commercially only two years ago, Java now dominates the
market for Internet-based software development.
"Using DeepCover for Java during development ensures that your
code is of the highest-quality," said RST CEO Jeff
Payne. "RST's goal is to make it simple for developers to
rigorously test their code as early in development as possible,
without disrupting their normal production schedules."
