BARE BONES SOFTWARE RELEASES UPDATE TO BBEDIT LITE

New Version of BBEdit Lite Available Immediately

Bedford, MA--February 20, 1998-- Bare Bones Software, Inc. today announced
the release and immediate availability of a new version of BBEdit Lite,
their popular freeware text editor. BBEdit Lite 4.1 is derived from BBEdit
4.5, the company's award-winning flagship text and HTML editor for the Mac
OS.

The BBEdit Lite 4.1 package is available for download from Bare Bones
Software's FTP site, located at (ftp://ftp.barebones.com/pub/freeware/),
from the company's Web site at (http://web.barebones.com/free/free.html),
or from mirror sites as listed in the "Links" section of the Bare Bones
Software web site: (http://web.barebones.com/links/links.html).

a great way for Mac users to get the sense of the depth and power of

BBEdit Lite is available free of charge for individual, institutional, or
corporate use. Commercial licensing terms are available for companies who
wish to add value to their products by including BBEdit Lite with their
products. Any BBEdit Lite user may purchase the full commercial release of
BBEdit by contacting the Bare Bones Software sales department at (781)

This product will run on any Macintosh capable of running system 7.0 or
later of the Mac OS. System 7.5 or later is recommended. BBEdit Lite is
also compatible with Mac OS 8; version 8.1 is recommended.
