FileMaker Announces Shipment of FileMaker Mobile 8

Features support for server synchronization support and ready-to-use
starter solutions

SANTA CLARA, Calif., Jan. 24 -- FileMaker, Inc. today announced the
immediate availability of FileMaker Mobile 8 (www.filemaker.com/mbl8), a
companion to FileMaker Pro 8 designed specifically for Palm OS and Pocket
PC handheld devices. The new FileMaker Mobile 8 now goes beyond
synchronizing with local desktop databases only. For the first time, it
allows users to synchronize handhelds with databases on FileMaker Server 8
and FileMaker Server 8 Advanced.

"FileMaker Mobile 8 is widely used to run workgroup solutions, including
everything from managing service calls to tracking teachers in a
classroom," said Ryan Rosenberg, FileMaker vice president, marketing and
services. "FileMaker Pro makes it possible for anyone to create and deploy
a workgroup solution that spans desktops and handhelds. FileMaker Mobile 8
is a major advancement in the ease of management of larger workgroup
solutions and the new starter solutions make it even easier for individuals
to get started fast."

FileMaker Mobile 8 runs on the Palm Treo 650, and many other Palm and
Windows Mobile compatible handheld devices, allowing individuals and mobile
workgroups to extend the productivity of FileMaker solutions from the
office to their handheld device. FileMaker Mobile 8 supports a range of
applications as simple as lists to more complex solutions such as inventory
records, customer information, student records, work orders, research
notes, or help-desk records. In addition to providing one-button, two-way
synchronization, FileMaker Mobile 8 allows flexible data entry and viewing
features.

New Features in FileMaker Mobile 8

FileMaker Mobile 8 provides the following new features:

* Synchronizing with hosted databases. In addition to synchronizing
handheld databases with local FileMaker Pro databases, teams can now
synchronize with databases hosted by FileMaker Server.

* Handheld databases can now be synchronized with databases created in
FileMaker Pro 7, FileMaker Developer 7 (including runtime versions),
FileMaker Pro 8, FileMaker Pro 8 Advanced (including runtime versions),
FileMaker Server 8, and FileMaker Server 8 Advanced.

* Six new ready-to-use mobile Starter Solutions, pre-designed and ready to
synchronize with handheld devices, including:

- Contact Management
- Asset Management
- Research Notes
- Student Records
- Movie Library
- Recipe Tracking

FileMaker Mobile 8 is $69/$19 Upgrade (U.S., SRP). Licensed users of
FileMaker Mobile 7 or FileMaker Mobile 2.1 may download FileMaker Mobile 8
