Extensis Universal Type Server 2.0

Extensis Universal Type Server 2.0

Extensis, a division of Celartem Inc., today announced Universal Type
Server 2.0 Professional and Lite. Universal Type Server 2.0
Professional is the only server-based font management solution that
offers secure and dynamic integration with Microsoft's Active
Directory and Apple's Open Directory. This functionality will be
available to new and existing Type Server Professional customers at
no additional cost for a limited time--a $3500 value.

"The Directory Integration Module offers administrators the easy user
management they need in today's fast-paced work environments," said
Brian Berson, General Manager at Extensis. "This goes far beyond the
LDAP functionality available in the market. We're excited to offer
our customers a secure way to simplify and automate user management."

Users on both Mac OS X and Windows benefit from "single sign-on,"
leveraging Kerberos secure network authentication, providing an
end-to-end solution for client deployment. Universal Type Server 2.0
has new font license compliance capabilities: using a simple web
interface, administrators can tell if their fonts are compliant with
their licenses.

"Font access reporting, along with the ability to control system font
folders, ensures maximum license compliance," said Thomas Phinney,
Senior Product Manager for Font Solutions at Extensis. "Through the
new system font management feature, Universal Type Server prevents
users from installing unlicensed or unapproved fonts directly into
the system font folders of the operating system, thereby
circumventing the font management system. With this release, Extensis
builds on its commitment to industry standards and proven open source
technologies to deliver the best flexibility and performance. A new
optional External Database Module, supporting Microsoft SQL Server,
will offer increased scalability for demanding environments."

The new version of the Type Client provides Mac and Windows users
with an improved experience, including the ability to view all glyphs
of a font and print font previews. Users can also "tear-off" a font
preview and float it on top of any document to easily compare fonts
in any application. With this release, Extensis also provides faster
font auto-activation for more applications, with Mac and Windows
plug-ins for Adobe Illustrator and InDesign CS2, CS3 and CS4, as well
as QuarkXPress 7 and 8. Universal Type Server is the only
client/server font management solution that maintains one true source
of data, offering a live, collaborative system. All fonts and font
metadata, including classifications, keywords, and regrouped
families, are stored in a central location on the server, available
to users automatically.

Supporting Macintosh and Windows systems on both the server and
client, Type Server allows organizations to manage users and fonts
for compliance and consistency, as well as centrally store, update
and control type libraries for efficiency and security.

Universal Type Server is expected to ship in June 2009. Extensis will
begin taking pre-orders for the product immediately. Migration
pricing for current FontReserve Server, Suitcase Server, and volume
license customers is available. Universal Type Server 2 upgrade,
client access license upgrades and the new Directory Integration
Module will be available free-of-charge to existing Universal Type
Server Professional customers under a current annual service
agreement (ASA).

In addition, the Directory Integration Module will be offered free of
charge for all new Universal Type Server 2.0 Professional customers
through the end of 2009. Pricing for all versions, including
upgrades, will be announced prior to product availability. Universal
Type Server will be available in English, French and German. For more
