DTerm 3.0

DTerm 3.0

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

DTerm 3.0 Now Available

VANCOUVER, Washington - 16 October, 2002 Glenn L. Austin today announced
the release of DTerm 3.0, a developer tool for Mac OS X and Mac OS 9 for
embedding and displaying runtime diagnostic information in real-time. The
new version improves performance while reducing CPU load, and provides more
abilities to customize the display of the diagnostic output.

DTerm consists of a group of instrumentation libraries for Mac OS 9, CFM,
and Mach-O, and a separate application to display that instrumentation
information. DTerm can also create a customized, limited copy of itself
that can be freely distributed to end-users to help diagnose problems. When
the monitoring app is not running, the instrumentation libraries basically
add no overhead to the program being instrumented. Multiple instrumented
applications can send diagnostic information to DTerm without interfering
with the information from other programs. Later, multiple programs'
information can be merged into a single window to diagnose interactions
between the programs.

DTerm 3.0 uses a new text engine to display hundreds of lines per second,
preferences for displaying the message date and time to the fraction of a
second -- or no date and time at all. DTerm 3.0 has been converted to run
entirely using Carbon Events to reduce idle CPU usage to nearly zero.

"With DTerm 3.0, I feel that we've brought the ability to view and record
program status in real-time to real-time," said Glenn L. Austin, CEO of
Austin-Soft.com. "With the ability to display diagnostic output separate
from the program being instrumented while retaining the ability to view the
interactions between programs, DTerm makes the perfect tool for programmers
developing client/server applications or applications that take over the
entire screen."

DTerm 3.0 sells for $64, while upgrades from previous versions are free.
Multiple licenses can be purchased at substantial discounts.

DTerm 3.0 is available for download from Austin-Soft.com:

DTerm 3.0 requires Mac OS 9 or later, 64 MB total memory, and 700K disk space.
