Dartware Releases New InterMapper Version, Improving Cross-Platform
Functionality

InterMapper 4.1.2 Addresses Customer Needs With Improved Custom Icon
Feature for
Windows, Unix/Linux and Macintosh

Hanover, NH, December 3, 2003 - Dartware LLC, a provider of cross-platform
network monitoring products that help customers maximize network uptime, today
announced InterMapper 4.1.2, an upgrade designed specifically to address
customer requests. Chief among the enhancements is the ability to use graphic
images to customize the icons shown on network maps.

InterMapper users can now use PNG or JPEG files (including vendor logos) for
devices on their maps, giving a better representation of the equipment that is
present on the network. InterMapper automatically tints these icons to show the
health of the network element with a yellow, orange or red background (as
appropriate).

While custom icons were available in previous versions of InterMapper,
their use
had been primarily limited to Macintosh users. With Dartware's commitment to
serving multiple platforms, this release makes it easy to use these icons on
Windows, Unix/Linux and Macintosh.

In addition to the custom icon improvements, Dartware has included the
following
enhancements in InterMapper 4.1.2:

* Improved security measures: InterMapper can use SSL to encrypt connections
from InterMapper Remote to ensure that network information passed among various
copies of InterMapper will not be intercepted. In version 4.1.2, the Map Status
probe that monitors sub-maps also attempts to establish an SSL connection and,
if not available, then uses an unencrypted connection. In addition, the GUI
will conceal all SNMP community strings when being entered or displayed to
provide added security.

* StartConsole utility: InterMapper now installs a double-clickable
StartConsole
utility that will launch the InterMapper Console program on Windows
computers to
avoid problems with mis-associated JAR files. In addition, this utility
improves the performance of the Console when dealing with multiple large
maps by
increasing the memory allocation above the default provided by Java.

* Bug fixes: Previous problems relating to the display of Host Resources Probe,
XML escaping, Solaris ping timings, Red Hat and Solaris installers, window
positioning on multiple monitors and others have all been addressed.

"We're dedicated to listening to the needs of our customer base and ensuring
that InterMapper is as useful to all platforms as it is to the Macintosh
platform," said Rich Brown, president of Dartware. "With this release, we've
addressed many of the requests we've received from customers and also
provided a
solution that's easier to use."

Pricing and Availability
InterMapper is priced by the number of devices being monitored. A license to
monitor unlimited devices costs $2,395; 200-, 75-, and 25-device licenses cost
$1,795, $1,245, and $495 respectively. The companion InterMapper Remote
allows
customers to operate InterMapper from a remote location. It is sold singly, and
in five, ten, and twenty-packs for $245, $995, $1,895, and $3,695,
respectively.

The prices quoted above include a 12-month Support Subscription that entitles
the customer to all versions released during the support subscription. Current
InterMapper customers whose support subscriptions are in force as of this date
may upgrade to at no cost.
