Birthdays and Such 1.4

Birthdays and Such 1.4

For Immediate Release

Never forget a birthday or anniversary again!

With Birthdays and Such, the delightfully simple reminder program, when you
turn on your Mac a small window comes up telling you about:

- the important birthdays approaching in the next few days and how old each
of your friends and relatives will be;

- the anniversaries coming up and how many years the couple has been
married; and

- the other important dates in your life -- bills coming due, recurring
dentist appointments to schedule, passports to renew, or meetings to
attend...

The new version of Birthdays and Such, the most frequently used daily
reminder program on the Macintosh, extends the program's AutoQuit
functionality to add an AutoHide feature that lets Birthdays and Such hide
in the background on days when there are no reminders, only to pop up a
window the next time there ARE reminders.

Birthdays and Such is so tiny, you'll have no hesitation to launch it daily
(or to leave it up if you leave your Mac running). It's only 20K, plus a
sample Reminders text file and a manual. It launches very fast and takes
almost no RAM!

Birthdays and Such is What'sItWorthWare--that is, you decide what Birthdays
and Such is worth. It runs on almost every Macintosh computer that's been
made since 1986--Mac Plus through the latest PowerMacs and iMacs, System 6
through OS 9. Birthdays and Such is an application--no extensions or
control panels to worry about.

Birthdays and Such users, who span the globe from Australia and Japan to
Holland and France, report remembering not only their wives and husbands
and grandchildren but also their appointments and bills and user group
meetings. Tens of thousands have downloaded Birthdays and Such from AOL and
the Internet since version 1.0 became available in 1996. Here's what a few
of them have said about the program:

"Finally! a Reminder that runs in 55K and doesn't lock up my Mac. I love it!"

"I am elated -- I've just found "Birthdays and Such..." software on an old
CD-ROM. It's the business! It is exactly the kind of programme I would
write myself if I knew how. Thanks."

"I'm using it for tax and insurance payments and as a kind of "journal"
too. Great program! I like being reminded when to change the oil in the
car, give the pets their pills, etc., etc.!"

"I did not know I needed something like this until I tried it for a few
days. You thought of everything."

"Thanks! Neat little program."

"Birthdays and Such is a great program. It is making me the best father of
all. I haven't forgotten an important date since."

"I ran across your Birthdays and Such reminder program out on the internet.
I had been looking for something like that, and I really like it. This is
the first time I have ever kept, used, and paid for a shareware program."

"Thanks for Birthdays and Such! I use it daily, and it really does help me
keep up with all of my friends and family."

"Its "worth" is essentially immeasurable. Thanks so much for the ShareWare!"

"I keep an alias of the Reminders file in my Apple menu so I can edit it
often. I use the program not only for recurring dates like birthdays, but
also for general reminders such as bills. I find the whole concept of
storing the reminders in a text file to be quite elegant and easy to deal
with. Nice job. I also appreciate the absurdly small RAM footprint. If only
the folks at Redmond were so thoughtful."

"What is unique and what really sells it for me is the "Little Nag" feature
of providing the reminder for a period of days until the event occurs. I
haven't found that sort of feature in any of the other reminder programs
that I have used to date."

"I appreciate its simplicity and small size."

"Extremely useful for so many things. Naturally, I have entered all the
periodic maintenance things I used to forget, like the air conditioner
filter."

"Gone is my excuse of forgetfulness."

The steps to use it are simple: Modify the sample "Reminders" file with
your important dates. And set Birthdays and Such to run every time you
start your Macintosh.

Edward Goss in the 10/98 About this Particular Macintosh e-zine said,
"Birthdays And Such... could save your marriage, bring peace to your
family, or even save your job. If you are the forgetful type, you must get
this program. Set it up with important dates, sit back, and be the envy of
all your family and friends. Imagine never again forgetting a birthday,
anniversary, doctor's appointment, or job interview!..." "...There are
plenty of reminder programs out there, but none so simple, effective and
useful."

The San Jose Mercury News said, "Worth its weight in happy spouses, friends
and associates."
