23 May 2005 - Atlanta, GA - Big Nerd Ranch Announces NEW OOA&D Bootcamp
with John Graziano August 15-19, 2005: The Only Thing Abbreviated About
this Class is its Name.

In its continuing dedication to providing Mac and Open-Source developers
with exceptional training classes, the Big Nerd Ranch announces
Object-Oriented Analysis & Design Bootcamp, taught by former Xcode
technical lead John Graziano. The intensive, all-inclusive, 5-day bootcamp
focuses on developing software that closely models the domain. Graziano's
techniques, honed since the class's inception in 1992 at NeXT, have helped
a multitude of development teams deliver working, successful software from
the ground up. For developers with an understanding of the basic
object-oriented concepts, OOA&D Bootcamp provides the bridge to improved
development of medium- to large-scale software systems.

Graziano's training pedigree stretches both broad and deep. He developed
his OOA&D training techniques working with NeXT clients in the early 1990s.
Since then, he's applied these techniques to his work as the technical lead
on Apple's Xcode Development Environment, architect on WebObjectsBuilder,
and as a principal architect of the next-generation animation software at
Pixar, where his OOA&D methods are still in use. Graziano teaches
"abstraction-oriented development," a technique which treats objects and
APIs as a communication medium and works to make them as clear and
efficient as possible. With a practical, results-oriented approach,
students are producing working analysis documents by the second day of
class.

In describing the need for OOA&D Bootcamp, Graziano said, "Many people will
tell you how to create a design. In this class, you'll learn how to create
a good design. The class is fully buzzword-compliant: patterns, use-cases,
aspects, and refactoring are all covered. But unlike most courses, which
only define these concepts, we explore how they map to real-world problems."

Said Aaron Hillegass, Cocoa Instructor and founder of the Big Nerd Ranch,
"Because of our own development experience, we expect John's class to be
wildly popular. Through our Cocoa development for Big Nerd Ranch consulting
clients, we've used John's methodology with great success. We've found a
natural progression from becoming a great programmer to a need for great
analysis and design. John's timely arrival on the Big Nerd Ranch schedule
of classes will give many of our alumni exactly what they're seeking."

The Big Nerd Ranch incorporates intensive training classes for Unix and Mac
OS X programmers in a retreat setting outside Atlanta, GA. Class price of
$3500 includes lodging, all meals, original instruction materials, 24-hour
lab access, and transportation to and from the Atlanta airport. Students
are encouraged to bring independent projects to class, allowing for input
from classmates and individual instructor attention. For more information,
