Take this one with a grain of salt, but "DigiTimes" (http://www.digitimes.com/news/a20100407PD226.html) says Apple is reportedly scheduling a smaller 5- to 7-inch version of the iPad that is expected to launch as soon as the first quarter of 2011, according to research senior analyst Mingchi Kuo.
Kuo, citing talks with upstream component sources, said Apple's smaller-size iPad will be priced below US$400 and will target the highly-portable mobile device market and consumers that focus mainly on reading and do not have a high demand for text input. He may be right, but that seems counter-productive to me, giving the various uses of the iPad.

If Apple is just on their way planning for a smaller version of an iPad next year, well, well, well, here’s the thing, The Amazon Kindle and also the iPad had better watch out for the Dell Streak. No, the "Dude you're getting a Dell!" guy isn't pledging a fraternity – Dell is releasing two tablet pc models next year, one with a 7 inch screen one with a 10 inch screen. For the rest of this year, they will release a Dell Streak 5 inch screen model in time for the holidays and techies to get some payday loans and get the hot new toy. There isn't an official release date yet, but since individuals have a tendency to lose their minds over every little thing these days I'm certain it can be a huge deal.
