SAN JOSE, Calif., November 8, 2004 -- 4D, Inc., publishers of the 4th
Dimension RAD/RDBMS Environment, 4D Business Kit and 4D WebSTAR Server
Suite, today announced its release of the first beta of 4D 2004.1 for
immediate availability. The public beta program reflects the company's
commitment to ensure that 4D 2004.1 is the best possible release ever. 4D
2004.1 B1 features over 70 bug fixes and some significant new enhancements,
including new commands and an updated interface to make the development of
powerful, beautiful applications easier than ever before.

"Delivering rock solid, Golden versions release after release is something
we target at 4D," said Brendan Coveney, president and CEO of 4D, Inc.
"However, with 4D 2004.1 we want to ensure that this release will go down in
history as a Platinum release, not just a Golden one - hence our desire to

4D 2004.1 builds on the over 120 new features introduced in the 4D 2004
release, with ease-of-use enhancements, a number of new commands and myriad
bug fixes. 4D 2004.1 B1 is being released as a public beta release, thus
ensuring the maximum exposure to developers worldwide. The download is
