12- and 16-gigabyte (GB) SanDisk Extreme III CompactFlash

Large Capacities, High Reliability and High Performance
Ideal For Digital SLRs & Broadcast-Quality Camcorders

COLOGNE, GERMANY, Sep. 26, 2006 -- SanDisk=20
Corporation (NASDAQ:SNDK) today introduced the=20
12- and 16-gigabyte (GB) SanDisk Extreme III=20
CompactFlash cards to its award-winning Extreme=20
III performance line, making these the highest=20
capacity cards in the world. The new=20
high-performance, large-capacity cards are ideal=20
for professional photographers who shoot RAW or=20
high-resolution JPG files and need the=20
performance, reliability and capacity to capture=20
these large files.

The new SanDisk Extreme III CompactFlash cards=20
can also be used with the Grass Valley Infinity=20
Series Digital Media Camcorder, the first=20
camcorder introduced in the broadcast industry=20
that uses non-proprietary, removable, solid-state=20
flash memory cards as recording and playback=20
media.

The new cards will have minimum write and read=20
speeds of 20 megabytes per second (MB/sec.) and=20
will ship to photo retailers by the end of the=20
year. The announcement was made at the Photokina=20
trade show where SanDisk is demonstrating=20
products in Hall 6, Stand D78/E79.

"The beauty of using large capacity cards like=20
the 12- and 16GB SanDisk Extreme III cards is the=20
freedom to shoot without worrying about filling=20
up the card," said Jonathan Torgovnik, contract=20
photographer for Newsweek magazine and=20
international freelance photographer. "I shoot in=20
RAW mode almost exclusively and the large files=20
can fill up a card very quickly. Having a large=20
capacity card lets me focus on what I love to=20
do--take pictures."

Tanya Chuang, SanDisk's senior retail product=20
marketing manager, said, "The SanDisk Extreme III=20
line combines exceptional performance and=20
reliability with large capacities to provide an=20
ideal storage solution for professional=20
photographers that meets their shooting and=20
workflow requirements. We believe that SanDisk=20
will continue to be the preferred choice by=20
professional photographers based on our capacity=20
and performance advantages as well as our=20
commitment to the digital photography market as a=20
whole."

SanDisk Extreme USB 2.0 Readers Improve Workflow=20
While the speed of the card is important for=20
in-camera performance, card-to-computer transfer=20
rates are becoming an increasingly important=20
workflow consideration. The time it takes to=20
transfer images to a computer can be a bigger=20
bottleneck now that card capacities have expanded=20
into the multi-gigabyte range. The SanDisk=20
Extreme USB 2.0 reader is designed to transfer=20
images as quickly as possible.

SanDisk Extreme III cards use SanDisk-developed=20
ESP (Enhanced Super-Parallel Processing)=20
technology that combines advanced NAND flash=20
memory chips and controller designs, 32-bit RISC=20
processing and leading edge algorithms for an=20
architecture that streamlines every aspect of=20
read and write data transfer operations. In=20
addition, SanDisk works closely with major camera=20
manufacturers to ensure speed and compatibility.=20
The ESP architecture effectively removes the card=20
as the bottleneck in data storage applications.

SanDisk Extreme III cards have the industry's=20
widest guaranteed operating temperature range=20
from a minus 13F (minus 25C) to a 185F (plus=20
85C). The cards also include RescuePRO software=20
that allows photographers to easily recover=20
accidentally deleted images, lost digital images=20
or data.
