Adobe Audition coming to the Mac platform

Adobe Audition, the all-in-one professional audio toolset for recording, mixing, editing and mastering, will be coming to the Mac in a future release. A shipping date, pricing or system requirements haven't been announced for the Mac version of the pro audio editing tool.

However, a beta of the Mac version of Adobe Audition is expected to be available on Adobe Labs this winter. Customers can sign up today to be notified when the beta is available at: http://www.adobe.com/go/audition_labs .

Adobe Audition 3 is available for Windows today for an estimated street price of US $349 for the full version, with upgrades available from an estimated street price of US$99.

A de-hummer and de-esser will be new features when Audition for Mac is released. Additionally, a volume leveler will be new when Audition for Mac is released, though it is currently included in Soundbooth.

All of these capabilities are planned to come to Mac users in the next release of Adobe’s comprehensive professional audio editing tool.

Jason Levine, Adobe Audition senior worldwide evangelist, told "MacNews" that Audition is the "most commonly encountered computer software" encountered in radio stations and that a Mac version has been requested for over 10 years.

"There's always been a hole in the Mac platform for audio editing and mastering tool. The Mac version of Audition will be all-new, not just a PC port," he says. "It's targeted to broadcast and post-production environments and emphasizes speed and processing. Also, its files will integrate with Adobe Creative Suite 5."
