3D Studio 3.0 Help File: Materials Drop-Down Menus

Each entry can contain up to 20 lines, 70 characters long.
Don't use tabs; only use spaces.
This file can be any length.
New Help topics begin with the ">" character, followed by the
numeric code assigned to the topic.

>100 ( About 3D Studio... ! )
About 3D Studio displays the program version number,
copyright notice, and software serial number.
>110 ( Current Status ? )
Current Status shows the number of graphic components in
memory, amount of available memory, amount of used memory,
size of the swap file on disk, number of times 3D Studio has
paged out to disk in the current session, and time taken to
complete the last rendering.
>120 ( Configure * )
Configure lets you define your input device and change default
file paths. Click the Map Paths button if you need to add or
change a bitmap path.
>125 ( System Options )
System Options lets you override some system parameters for the
current session. To change these settings permanently, edit your
3DS.SET file.
>130 ( Scene Info )
Scene Info lets you view, print, or save to disk an ASCII list of
the current 3D scene.
>150 ( Gamma Control )
Gamma Control lets you calibrate 3D Studio to your monitor
display gamma, and specify file input and output gamma.
>200 ( New N )
New removes all materials in the current library from memory.
It doesn't affect the disk copy of those files or the contents of the
sample windows.
>210 ( Load Library ^L )
Load Library loads a new materials library, replacing the current
library. If you put materials in the previous library without
saving that library, those materials are lost. This command
doesn't affect the contents of the sample windows.
>220 ( Merge Library ^M )
Merge Library lets you select a library and merge its materials
with those in the current library. This command doesn't affect
the contents of the sample windows.
>230 ( Save Library ^S )
Save Library saves the materials in the current library to a .MLI
disk file. It doesn't save the materials in the sample windows
unless you added them to the current library using Put Material
in the Material menu.
>235 ( Delete Library ^D )
Delete Library permanently deletes a selected materials library
from disk.
>240 ( Quit Q )
Quit exits 3D Studio after first prompting you. Quitting 3D Studio
erases all data and settings in all modules, but disk files are not
affected.
>600 ( Get Material G )
Get Material displays a selected material from the current
library in the active sample window.
>610 ( Put Material P )
Put Material lets you name the current material and add it to the
current materials library.
>620 ( Remove Material R )
Remove Material removes one or more materials from the
current library, without removing them from disk.
>630 ( Get from Scene F )
Get from Scene lists all materials assigned to the objects in the
current 3D Editor scene, and lets you load one into the current
sample window.
>640 ( Put to Scene T )
Put to Scene prompts you, and then applies the properties of the
current material to the materials of the same name in the 3D
Editor scene.
>650 ( Put to Current C )
Put to Current copies the current material in the Materials
Editor to the current material in the 3D Editor.
>760 ( Antialias )
Antialias turns antialiasing on and off. You must rerender to see
the effects in the active sample window. Turn Antialias on to
increase rendering quality of the sample; turn it off to increase
speed. This command does not affect the 3D scene.
>770 ( Backlight )
Backlight turns the backlight on and off. You must rerender to see
the effects in the active sample window.
>780 ( Video Color Check )
Video Color Check checks the sample image for color values
beyond the safe NTSC or PAL threshold. Unsafe pixels appear
black.
>790 ( View File Alpha )
View File Alpha displays a monochrome representation of a
selected bitmap's alpha channel on your output display device.
>795 (View Last Image)
View Last Image lets you view the last image rendered on your
output display device.
>1 ( 2D Shaper F1 )
2D Shaper accesses the 2D Shaper program module.
>2 ( 3D Lofter F2 )
3D Lofter accesses the 3D Lofter program module.
>3 ( 3D Editor F3 )
3D Editor accesses the 3D Editor program module.
>9 ( Keyframer F4 )
Keyframer accesses the Keyframer program module.
>90 ( Materials F5 )
Materials accesses the Materials Editor program module.
>93 ( DOS Window F10)
DOS Window transfers you to the DOS command prompt where
you can enter DOS commands or run other programs. To return
to 3D Studio, type "exit" at the prompt.
>94 ( Text Editor F11)
Text Editor displays the 3D Studio Text Editor, which you can use
to view and edit ASCII text files and Keyframer External Process
(KXP) files.
>901 (User Program F6)
One of fourteen external programs that you can assign to function
keys F6 to F9 and Alt+F1 to Alt+F10. Use the USER-PROG
parameters in your 3DS.SET file, as described in the Installation
Guide. You can also assign PXP programs to these slots.
>902 (User Program F7)
One of fourteen external programs that you can assign to function
keys F6 to F9 and Alt+F1 to Alt+F10. Use the USER-PROG
parameters in your 3DS.SET file, as described in the Installation
Guide. You can also assign PXP programs to these slots.
