  13.                         BANANA OATMEAL COOKIES

  15. 1 1/2  cups sifted flour                    3/4  cup shortening
  16. 1  cup sugar                                1  egg, well beaten
  17. 1/2  tsp. soda                              1  cup mashed bananas
  18. 1  tsp. salt                                1 3/4 cups quick oats
  19. 1/4  tsp. nutmeg                            1/2  cup chopped nuts
  20. 3/4 tsp. cinnamon

  22. Sift together flour, soda, sugar, salt, nutmeg and cinnamon.  Cut in
  23. shortening.  Add egg, banana, oats and nuts.  Beat until well blended.
  24. Drop by teaspoons 1 1/2 inches apart on cookie sheets.  Bake in hot
  25. oven at 400 degrees for 15 minutes or until done.  Remove immediately.
