Discover OpenOffice.org
Helen Bradley explains how to get started with great free alternative to Microsoft Office.
Historically computer folks have been very generous by freely sharing their time and expertise with each other. Perhaps nothing illustrates this better than the amount of free software and utilities that are available on the internet. One of these programs is OpenOffice.org a free office suite which started life as Sun's Star Office and which morphed into OpenOffice.org. The suite continues to be developed and enhanced through the work of a number of developers and it is you and I who benefit from their efforts. OpenOffice.org is a fully featured alternative to the more pricey suites from Microsoft, Corel and Lotus. One of the neat things about this suite is that it runs on a range of operating systems including Mac, Windows and Linux so it can be used in offices where multiple operating systems are in use. This month we have some tips and techniques to help you work more effectively with OpenOffice.org.
