PPS Europe Plan Ahead with OfficeTalk
PPS Europe Ltd are medical communications experts committed to delivering effective and value-added solutions to complex product development opportunities. Employing around 200 staff and headquartered in Worthing, PPS Europe are now a truly international operation, having recently acquired a US office in Greenwich, Conneticut.

Meeting Obstacles...
Operating across the globe, PPS Europe Ltd has a number of International Business Managers who are constantly travelling to various world-wide locations. Scheduling meetings between these people was a constant problem and so the decision was made that some sort of workgroup information manager was required. Given the circumstances, a system that would allow the viewing of a group diary was considered essential.

Phil Turner, Software Support Supervisor at PPS Europe, and his team then set about examining the variety of information managers and organisers on the market in search of a system that would solve their problems. They felt that it was essential that those people who would be using the system on a daily basis were involved in the selection of the product and so key members of staff, managerial and administrative, helped examine the available solutions.

Workgroup Guinea Pigs...
Impressed by the specification of Sareen SoftwareÆs OfficeTalk Workgroup Information Manager, which uniquely offered group diary facilities, Turner requested an evaluation system for the company to try. He first examined it himself to ensure that technically the product would meet the needs of PPS Europe before distributing it to the core group of key users for trial. "The response of our æguinea pigÆ group was entirely positive," commented Turner. "The simplicity and yet good functionality of OfficeTalk made it a winner with our users."

Simple Solution with Business Benefits...
Following OfficeTalkÆs success throughout this trial period PPS Europe purchased 150 user licences, 120 for their Worthing office and 30 for the US office in Greenwich. Installation of OfficeTalk was entirely simple and not problematic, and took no time at all. "On the user side we also found that implementation of the system was trouble-free. No formal training was required for users of OfficeTalk, and any problems that did arise were swiftly dealt with either by the software support team or experienced OfficeTalk users from the core group," said Turner.

"Since OfficeTalk was adopted by the company, we have identified definite productivity gains. The group diary function which allows you to view several diaries within the workgroup simultaneously is particularly useful and saves us incredible amounts of time in arranging and rearranging International Business Manager meetings," Turner added. PPS Europe has also gained benefit from having a central workroup address book and planner.
