Many computer users feel that a graphics tablet is more natural to use than a mouse and without doubt it gives a much faster, smoother and higher resolution response than a mouse. Wacom graphics tablets can be plugged into the serial port of any model of the Archimedes which means that they can be used alongside a mouse or as a mouse replacement.
The A6 ArtPad (foreground) and A5 Wacom tablets. 'A6' and 'A5' refer to the
pressure-sensitive area rather than the total size of the tablet.
The new (approximately A6) ArtPad tablet offers a superb specification, even by Wacom standards; resolution exceeding 2000 dpi, 200 samples per second and 256 levels of pressure. All Wacom tablets include a cordless pen for added ease of use and flexibility.
The tablets are pressure-sensitive, so in combination with suitable applications they can produce realistic effects such as variable width (the ArtWorks pressure sensitive tool) or variable density airbrush painting (PhotoDesk). The Computer Concepts drivers will be compatible with all software that can take advantage of the pressure information, such as PhotoDesk, the Eesox ArtWorks Pressure Tool, DA's Picture and Studio 24.
Computer Concepts offer the drivers with the new ArtPad tablet and with the existing A5 and A4 tablets. The tablets can also be purchased as a package with Spacetech's PhotoDesk and the Eesox ArtWorks Pressure Tool.
