This is a guide through the HTML documents on the HTML CD for Windows: An Internet Publishing Toolkit, published by Prentice Hall. You will find a variety of HTML documents on this CD -- including HTML sources for the examples from the book, personal and business homepage templates, HTML element test documents, and catalogs for the images included on the CD. You will also a find list of WWW service providers and a a list of Web browsers. The CD also includes a number of useful tools to help you with tasks you are likely to perform as you create HTML documents.

Many of the links in these documents will lead you to real locations on the Internet, so if you are reading this on a system that is connected to the Internet those links should work. For example, the links in the documents in the HTML Application section will help you to find many useful HTML tools on the Internet. Of course, sites on the Internet move and although these links were valid at the time these documents were created, we cannot guarantee that they will continue to remain valid.

HTML Examples from the Book

• A basic version of the sample document about kayaking. It illustrates many HTML elements.
• A slightly more sophisticated version of the kayak document. Its icons are in two columns.
• The final version of the kayak document.
• An image map demo. Of course the "hot spots" won't work unless you are looking at it through a server that has been configured with its map.

HTML Element Illustrations

• A document that illustrates illegal and bad style in titles and headers.

HTML 3 and Netscape

• A document to illustrate tables. Since TABLE is an HTML 3 element, this document will only be good in a browser that has some HTML 3 support such as NCSA Mosaic or Netscape Navigator.
• This document provides a general overview of HTML 3 elements. This document will only be good in a browser that has some HTML 3 support such as NCSA Mosaic or Netscape Navigator. If you don't have one of these browsers, you can use our Windows browsers document to find and retrieve it over the Internet.
• A document that illustrates Netscape extensions to HTML. This document should be pretty boring in anything besides Netscape.
