  6.     Koral switches on the portable TUBE LIGHTS along the 
  7.     floor. Like the tunnels, the ceiling is braced with 
  8.     BEAMS. Sections of the wall that once framed this room 
  9.     are visible through the sediment. In the center of one 
  10.     wall, an ancient stone TABLET is embedded in the stone.
  11.  
  12.     Kira and Jake follow Sisko into the room, and Koral 
  13.     leads them over to the tablet. It's a vertical 
  14.     limestone oval, similar in shape to the symbol of Bajor 
  15.     on the temple entrance on DS9.
  16.  
  17.                     KORAL 
  18.             It's over thirty thousand years old...
  19.  
  20.     Jake is less than thrilled, but Sisko looks closely at 
  21.     the tablet, which displays passages composed of ancient 
  22.     Bajoran RUNES. Parts of the inscription have been 
  23.     broken away or obscured by erosion and cracks.

  25.                     SISKO 
  26.             These inscriptions, they look 
  27.             similar to ancient Bajoran, but I 
  28.             can't quite make them out.

  30.                     KORAL 
  31.             Until recently, we couldn't 
  32.             either. But we've been able to 
  33.             piece together some rudimentary 
  34.             translations.

  36.     He points to a vertical strip of characters on the far 
  37.     right.

  40.             The syntax is unusual, but all 
  41.             forms of Bajoran share certain 
  42.             root-ideograms.
