  11.                     SILARAN'S VOICE
  12.             The creature's diseased mind 
  13.             cannot understand its plight... 
  14.             its imagination is too limited to 
  15.             perceive the truth. It cannot be 
  16.             saved. But there is still hope 
  17.             for its child. It can be taken 
  18.             from the womb and raised in the 
  19.             light.

  21.     A chill runs down Kira's spine as she realizes what 
  22.     he's planning to do. A note of desperation now creeps 
  23.     into her voice.

  25.                     KIRA 
  26.             Silaran, listen to me. The child 
  27.             I'm carrying isn't Bajoran, it's 
  28.             Human. It has unique medical 
  29.             needs. If you try to force me to 
  30.             give birth now you risk--

  32.                     SILARAN'S VOICE
  33.             The creature's cries grow louder, 
  34.             but no one can hear them. All 
  35.             that remains is to bring the child 
  36.             into the light... and discard the 
  37.             diseased carcass of the mother... 
  38.             before it can infect the offspring.

  41.             You can't bring it into the light! 
  42.             Not yet! Doctor Bashir said I 
  43.             needed at least three more weeks

  46.     Kira breaks off as Silaran pushes a cart bearing 
  47.     various medical DEVICES into the pool of light near the chair.

  49.                     KIRA 
  50.             We both agree that this baby is an 
  51.             innocent. Don't put him at risk. 
  52.             Please, Silaran.

  54.                     SILARAN
  55.             Don't worry. I promise that I'll 
  56.             take care of the child... and that 
  57.             I'll teach him the difference 
  58.             between darkness and light.
