  4. 47A  INT. CAVERN - MAIN WARD

  6.     The place is busy with activity as Nurses and Orderlies 
  7.     move around, tending to patients. Jake wanders in, 
  8.     looking listless. The Nurse moves past with a TRAY of 
  9.     FOOD in her hand, notices him.
  10.  
  11.                     NURSE
  12.                 (rushed)
  13.             Jake, take this to the patient in 
  14.             G-four, would you?
  15.  
  16.     Jake shrugs a yes.
  17.  
  18.                     JAKE 
  19.             Sure. 
  20.  
  21.     He takes the tray from her and she hurries off.
  22.  
  23. 47B   NEW ANGLE
  24.  
  25.     as Jake approaches the patient, who's in a bed in the 
  26.     corner, facing away from him.
  27.  
  28.                     JAKE 
  29.             Here you go...
  30.  
  31.     As Jake comes around he sees the patient's face and 
  32.     realizes it's the Ensign who shot himself in the foot. 
  33.     Jake wasn't expecting to see him and he's a bit taken 
  34.     off guard.
  35.  
  36.                     JAKE 
  37.             One of the nurses asked me to 
  38.             bring you this.
  39.  
  40.     The Ensign barely acknowledges him, continues staring 
  41.     at the wall. Jake sets the tray down, turns and starts 
  42.     to move off.
  43.  
  44.                     ENSIGN
  45.                 (still facing the wall)
  46.             Maybe I'll get a job as a cutter -- 
  47.             could be interesting work.
  48.  
  49.     Jake stops, unsure if the Ensign was talking to him.
  50.  
  51.                     JAKE 
  52.             What's a cutter?
  53.  
  54.                     ENSIGN 
  55.             You know, on a mining team. 
  56.             They're the guys who split the 
  57.             asteroids up with phasers so the 
  58.             excavators can get at what's 
  59.             inside.
