  12.             after what I'd done...

  14.     Kirby appears in the door...
  15.  
  16.                     KIRBY 
  17.             All right, you two, visiting hours 
  18.             re over.
  19.                 (re: Jake's wound)
  20.             Let me have a look at that.

  22.                     JAKE (V.O.) 
  23.             I keep turning it over in my
  24.             head...

  26.     Jake's V.O. carries into
  27.  
  28. 47   INT. CAVERN - STAFF BUNK ROOM - NIGHT

  30.     Jake, his head wound now gone, is at one of the tables, 
  31.     writing on his PADD in the DIM LIGHT. Sleeping figures 
  32.     can be seen occupying most of the bunks.

  34.                     JAKE (V.O.)
  35.                 (continuing) 
  36.             The shelling, losing sight of 
  37.             Bashir, running... and I keep 
  38.             trying to make sense of it all, to
  39.             justify what I did. But when it 
  40.             comes down to it, there's only one 
  41.             explanation. I'm a coward.

  43.     Jake's words, the rhythm of his writing, become 
  44.     angrier.

  46.                     JAKE (V.O.) 
  47.             Part of me wishes Bashir had seen 
  48.             me run away and told everyone the 
  49.             truth. They deserve to know what 
  50.             I am... they should know they 
  51.             can't count on me... that if the 
  52.             Klingons attack, I'll run and hide 
  53.             just like I did before...
