The London spectator

The theater scene in London is ablaze, despite the odd Puritan protest. Visitors should note that rumors describing London audiences as unruly rabble are totally false. At the theater, men and women of the respectable middle class mingle with the aristocracy. However, Londoners do take their playgoing very seriously–people laugh, cheer, and weep freely and without embarrassment.
