London is all abuzz over the plays of William Shakespeare. His Richard III,

English clergyman and schoolmaster Francis Meres has said of Shakespeare in his recent book Palladis Tamia: Wit's Treasury, "As Plautus and Seneca are accounted the best for Comedy and Tragedy among the Latins: so Shakespeare among the English is the most excellent in both kinds for the stage."

Shakespeare is also a poet and an actor as well as a playwright. His long poem "Venus and Adonis" was an immediate success. Shakespeare is currently a member of the Lord Chamberlain’s Men, one of the most popular acting companies in London.
