Judge Pierre Cauchon, having declared Joan of Arc guilty as a relapsed heretic, condemned her to burn at the stake tomorrow, May 30, 1431. Cauchon seemed satisfied with the outcome. Upon leaving Joan's cell yesterday morning, Cauchon reportedly told English officials, "Farewell, make good cheer. It is done."
