History

North Cape, Europe's northernmost promontory is a lunar landscape of treeless tundra and crumbling mountains. A tunnel in the visitor's center leads to a cave with panoramic views of the Arctic Ocean.

The plateau on the North Cape Rock - 307 meters above the sea - marks the northernmost corner of Europe. The majestic cliff formation representing the final frontier to the Arctic Ocean has long been a destination for both adventures and royalty.

North Cape picture

Out on the promontory of the North Cape cliff stands the Globe. This monument naturally provides a photo opportunity. To bee pictures with the Globe, perhaps with the midnight Sun in attendance, is positive proof that one has visited North Cape.
