In 1938, barracks were completed at Selarang to house a full battalion of infantry near the Naval Base in Singapore. After the British surrender, Australian prisoners-of-war were housed in Selarang Barracks. This was the scene of the infamous Selarang Barracks Square Incident during the Japanese Occupation. ^^^
