  14. Host Files: Resident. Infects COM files.

  16. Increase in Size of Infected Files: 608 bytes.

  18. Nature of Damage: Corrupts program files. Does no apparent damage.

  20. Detected by: Scanv49+, F-Prot, Pro-Scan.

  22. Removed by: CleanUp, Scan/D, or F-Prot.

  24.      This virus was first reported in October, 1989 by Uval Tal in Israel.
  25. It infects the first COM file in the current directory, and will
  26. re-infect it again and again. It infects no other files, and causes no
  27. other damage.

  29.      It has been called the "stupid" virus because it is so ineffectual
  30. compared to other viruses.  For instance:
  31.  
  32. *   It always installs in memory in the same location, at address
  33.     9800:100H
  34.  
  35. *   Any program which attempts to use this memory location destroys the
  36.     memory-resident copy of the virus.
  37.  
  38. *   It can only infect systems with 640K of memory.
  39.  
  40. *   It can not reach across directories.
  41.  
  42. *   It cannot determine if the file it is infecting has previously been
  43.     infected.
  44.  
  45. *   It does no apparent damage to anything but the first COM file in a
  46.     directory.
