  8. Host Machine: PC compatibles.

  10. Host Files: Remains resident. Infects boot sector of both floppies and
  11. hard disks, and infects hard disk partition tables.

  13. Increase in Size of Infected Files: n/a

  15. Nature of Damage: Corrupts or overwrites boot sector. Affects system
  16. run-time operation.

  18. Detected by: Scanv58+, IBM Scan.

  20. Removed by: MDisk/P.

  22. Scan Code: "MSDOS Vers. E.D.V." appears at the end of the boot sector on
  23. infected floppies.

  25.      The EDV virus was first reported by David Chess at IBM. It is a boot
  26. sector and partition table virus. Troublesome, it causes program crashes
  27. and some data destruction.
