  2. POINTS ECHO RULES AND POLICIES

  4. English is the official echo language.
  5. ========================================================================
  6. ALL USERS WHO HAVE ACCESS TO THIS ECHO MUST READ THIS. BY POSTING
  7. MESSAGES IN THE ECHO, YOU AGREE TO ACCEPT AND ABIDE BY THE RULES OF THIS
  8. CONFERENCE AS HERE POSTED.
  9. This conference may be made available to responsible users, point nodes,
  10. and full nodes (Boss nodes/SysOps).  If traffic gets too heavy, it may
  11. at some future date be restricted to points and full nodes only.  This
  12. is the POINTS echomail conference.  This, along with many other echomail
  13. conferences, is distributed worldwide, and *somebody* has to pay the
  14. phone bill. Please keep this in mind when entering messages. Keep your
  15. messages brief and to the point, and do not be excessive in QUOTING the
  16. contents of other messages.
  17. Description/Topicality...
  18. All messages posted here must consist SOLELY of helpful & informative
  19. material regarding POINTS and BOSSNODES.  HELP for all topics concerning
  20. POINT operation, is appropriate here including the support for specific
  21. Point related software by their Authors. This is not a my point setup
  22. and/or product is better than your point setup and/or product echo.  Be
  23. constructive and polite.  Having said that, this echo has been a very
  24. professionally handled echo, and is generally frequented by a very
  25. respectable group.  FidoNet is a police state so we must post rules, but
  26. the flavor of this echo is simply to be informative and have fun.
  27. Message handling and restrictions...
  28. 1.  Messages must remain on the topic of this conference as described
  29. above and in the current EchoList.   Discussion of other topics is
  30. grounds for the offending person or node to be banned from this
  31. conference.
  32. 2.  Foul or obscene language, personal invectives, and "widget wars" will
  33. not be tolerated.  
  34. 3.  Encrypted, encoded or rotated messages are forbidden.
  35. 4.  Keep the quoted portions of your messages SHORT.  Excessive quoting
  36. adds to expense and overhead.  Quote just enough to identify the
  37. thread of the conversation for other users.  Use enough of the
  38. original material to be sure the thread IS identified.
  39. 5.  Reasonable announcements for NEW or REVISED Point or related software
  40. by Authors is ok, as long as it does not become too frequent.
  41. 6.  The use of "Visible ASCII Control Characters" ie: ASCII 31 and
  42. below or "High ASCII Characters" ie: ASCII 129 and above is
  43. prohibited in this echo.
  44. 7.  Messages must originate with a real name, no alias names please.
  45. 8.  Gating this Echo to the internet is forbidden without Moderator
  46. permission.  Garbage mail coming back into the Echo from the internet
  47. via your gate will result in a prompt and permanent severing of your
  48. link.
  49. Moderator Policy/Continuity...
  50. 1.  All rules violations are to be addressed ONLY by the Moderator, or
  51. Co-Moderator.
  52. 2.  Questioning or discussion of Moderator policy in the open echo is
  53. off topic, except that the Moderator reserves the right to post
  54. special messages relating to such policy and rules from time to
  55. time for the edification of all participants.  The Moderator will
  56. listen to and consider, any suggestion or criticism sent by
  57. private hub or host-routed NetMail.  If there is a subject re
  58. Moderator policy that needs to be discussed it will be brought to
  59. the echo by the Moderator.
  60. 3.  The Moderator shall have the right:
  61. a. To appoint Co-Moderator(s) or Alternate Moderator(s)
  62. b. To set the rules for selection of his/her replacement at any
  63. time.
  64. c. The right to revise these rules at any time.
  65. 4.  In the event of the incapacity or unwillingness of the Moderator to
  66. continue to serve, then the Co-Moderator shall have all the rights
  67. ascribed to the moderator.
  68. In compliance with FidoNet Echo Policy, the conference rules will be
  69. posted no less than once per month, and nothing in these rules will
  70. supersede or replace any valid FidoNet rule or policy.
